Knack's Pricing Explained

Updated: Jul 14

Knack's Pricing Structure

Hey there! Dave Parrish here from Knack Builders. Today, I want to break down Knack’s pricing structure to help anyone considering this platform or new to it. Let’s dive in!

Getting Started with Knack

Knack offers a straightforward pricing model. They provide a 14-day trial but don’t have a free version. Pricing tiers are based on the number of apps, storage capacity, and the number of records you need.

Pricing Breakdown

For starters, the basic plan is $39 per month. This includes 20,000 records and 2 GB of file storage, which is generally sufficient for most users. If you're working with documents and images, keep in mind that images can take up significant space, though Knack's new builder allows you to resize them, which helps manage storage.

What’s a Record?

Think of a record as a single line in a spreadsheet. For example, in an invoicing app, each invoice will have multiple line items (e.g., products purchased), which can quickly add up to your record count. It’s crucial to estimate your needs accurately, as line items in orders are often the main driver for record accumulation.

Unique Features of Knack

One standout aspect of Knack's pricing is that it doesn't charge per user, which can be a significant cost-saver compared to other systems. In Knack, each user counts as one record, making it easier to manage costs.

Choosing Between Plans

When considering the Starter vs. Pro plan, the differences mainly revolve around features like e-commerce capabilities, scheduled tasks, and geo-mapping. If you need e-commerce functionality, you’ll want to opt for the Pro plan, as it’s not included in the Starter.

If your needs exceed the limits of the Starter plan, you can easily upgrade to the Pro plan for more records and storage. Additionally, if you find that you only need extra records, you can purchase them individually, which might be more cost-effective depending on your usage.

Managing Overages

If you exceed your record limit, Knack won’t charge you immediately. Instead, they’ll allow you to surpass the limit until your billing date, at which point additional fees will apply.

Advanced Options

For larger organizations, Knack offers enterprise-level plans, including options for dedicated servers and HIPAA compliance. These plans are customizable based on your specific needs and typically come at a higher price point.

Conclusion

That wraps up my overview of Knack’s pricing structure. I hope this guide helps clarify how their pricing works so you can make an informed decision. Thanks for tuning in, and feel free to reach out with any questions!
